Sponsorship:

The 505 class is privileged to have a number of generous sponsors who are supporting our National championships this year. RiskCafé have sponsored funds which pay for prizes as well as bridge and rescue accommodation, BP are sponsoring all the fuel for the bridge and rescue boats for the weekend. Hyde sails, Canon and SOS Tool & Die have sponsored lucky draw prizes, a new Jib from Hyde Sails, a water proof video camera from Canon and a sailing watch from SOS Tool & Die. The class wishes to thank them sincerely for their support. The lucky draw for these special prizes will take place after the AGM on Saturday night at Caterpillar and Catfish, everyone who attends the AGM has an equal chance of winning. If you are not there in person you are not eligible for the lucky draw. The 505 Class association is sponsoring half of the costs for Saturday evening dinner at Caterpillar and Catfish, so dinner will only cost you R 50 each. Non class members are also welcome at R 100 per person, but please let us know on your entry form.

Accommodation:

Chalets may still be available, phone Sterkfontein (058 622 3520) directly for any cancellations. There are plenty of powered and unpowered camping sites still available. The Cape guys are staying in the 8 bed chalet together with the bridge and rescue crews, and the Hogg family also found a chalet. Thanks for making the effort to attend you guys, we appreciate it.

Transport:

Several licensed double trailers are available for Nationals, ask Albrecht Holm 082 821 6390, Peter Funke 072 245 0154 and Warwick Ham 082 882 6414 if you need a lift. I think Rudolph 0722088012 also has an old trailer lying around somewhere, but I am not sure if it is in a roadworthy condition.

Measurement:

Pre measurement and boat weighing for all the Gauteng boats is on the 13th March at 12h00 at PSC. Measurement is compulsory for all boats and sails being used in the nationals, and we encourage all Gauteng boats to pre measure on this weekend so there is enough time to measure and weigh the KZN and Cape boats at Sterkfontein. Measurement will be limited to selected items at the discretion of the class measurers, but all boats will be weighed and shall comply with the class rules.

Who else is sailing?

There are some big names taking part in these 505 nationals, but you will have to pitch up to find out who they are! James McWha has a boat and Crew for the event but Warren could not make the event due to another commitment. We are also pleased that Tim and Julian are sailing the 2010 505 nationals in Coastal Flyer. If you have a competitive boat and are looking for a very competent skipper or you are looking to crew for someone just contact an Exco member for assistance, there are still one or two boats available. Remember the PE event and the WC Champs are coming up in April.

Rescue driver needed

If you have a skippers licence to drive a powerboat we are looking for a rescue boat driver to fill in for our Rescue 1 driver who had to unexpectedly fly off to Australia on business. Please contact any one of the Exco members and offer your services.

Assistance

Anyone prepared to help fetch Marks, Rope and Anchors from Aeolians as well as pick up petrol in Alberton is welcome to join Peter and Thomas leaving Pretoria at 06h00 on Sat 13th, back at PSC by 12h00 for measurement. Contact Peter if you are able to help 0722450154

Do you have any comments/suggestions? Where and when would you like to sail? Please forward any correspondence to members of the Exco or to rsa505@rsa505.org.za
