WC Champs - 24-27 April 2010 - 505's sailing on Dinghy course!
The 505 class Exco made a written submission to SAS WC, explaining our concerns and requesting that the 505's rather sail on the dinghy course, following a published announcement from SAS Western Cape regarding the WC Champs which stated that the 505's would be sailing on the same course as the Multihulls.
The chairman of the organising committee, Keith Morris promptly discussed the matter with the 505 Exco and the situation was sorted out to the satisfaction of the 505 Class. The 505's will be sailing on the dinghy course and will not be sailing on the multihull course.
The 505 Exco urges all sailors to support the WC Champs this year. This is ideal preparation for those intending to attend the 505 Worlds later this year in Denmark.
Western Cape Dinghy Championships communiqué
To all Western Cape dinghy sailing clubs
The 2010 Western Cape dinghy championships will be held in Saldanha Bay from 24th April to 27th April 2010.
For reasons beyond our control Saldanha Bay was not available over the Easter Weekend. Over the past few months we have considered many venues that would accommodate the dinghies and multihulls, we also considered both long weekends (Easter and 24-27 April)
I apologise to any clubsor individuals who have been inconvenienced by the change. Our longer term objective is to have an annual Western Cape Championship Regatta for all classes of dinghies and multihulls at either Langebaan or Mykonos or Saldanha Bay. This will be a fantastic exhibition of the sport of sailing.
Keith Morris - Chairman of the organising committee.
RSA 8340 sailing in UK
The sighting of a photo of RSA8340 on the UK website alerted us to the fact that Graeme Willcox is participating in the UK with good results. Graeme and Tiffany Baring-Gould placed 11th out of a field of 36 boats in the UK nationals held in June 2009 at Torbay.
Full results can be found at http://www.royaltorbayyc.org.uk/hosted2009/505/505os.html

Well done Graeme and Tiffany!
505’s sailing in Theewaterskloof Points Series (5-6 December)
The 505 fleet in Cape Town is shrugging off the global financial crisis and growing steadily. They recently took part in the Theewaterskloof points series. Sean Ballantyne submitted this race report.
The good news is that we made our class with five boats, one up from last year. The bad news is that at no time were all five boats on the course at the same time. The five boats were made up of Paul Wilcox, Ruaan De Hart, Grant Ballantyne and Sean Ballantyne, and Dudley Isaacs down from Knysna.
505 VLC Cup 2009
