DUFFIN CANNED DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST !!!
The Exco regrets to announce that unfortunately due to a lack of interest the Duffin Trophy Regatta which was to be held this weekend has had to be postponed.
There will be no 505 sailing at Aeolians this weekend!
Duffin cup - NEXT WEEKEND! 20-21 October '07
A great sailing weekend has passed us all by and only one 505 was sailing!
Well done to Albrecht and Crew for winning the PNYC long distance race in difficult and windy conditions.
Boskop had a great open weekend and two FD's were the only ones at the sharp end of the fleet. Wind ranged between 8 and 20 knots. Great sailing weather!
Not to worry the Duffin cup is upon us - NEXT WEEKEND!
For those of us who aren't awake thats 20-21st October 2007, at Aeolians. We are expecting a good turnout.
If you need a crew, ADVERTISE on the web!!!
Camping is plentiful and comes at a meagre fee. Braai fires will be lit on Saturday evening and Rudolph has promised to bring his projector, so we can watch the Rugby on Saturday evening.
I have it on good authority that there will be good wind.
Boskop Open Regatta - 13 & 14 October '07
The Boskop Open Regatta is on this weekend. This is normally a fun regatta, but there is plenty of good competition on the water. Last year we had plenty of wind and the 5's and FD's battled it out. This regatta is combined with the youth, and the Lasers, so put the oppie/dabbie on top of your 5 and get out there! (If you are not going to PNYC)
The NOR can be found by clicking here or in the downloads area.
PNYC Endurance race
Hi Guys,
Seems there was confusion regarding the Boskop date which appeared to clash with our date for Duffin. Only after my request to find a new date did we discover that the Boskop date was wrong.
Anyway Boskop (according to my latest info is also this weekend 13&14). So for those not going to Potch please post and distribute PNYC endurance NOR Click Here
Regards
Hans Rogotzki

Nationals 07 - Provisional results out
505 Nationals 2007, Aeolians, Vaal Dam
The 505 nationals at Aeolians featured 17 boats, ideal sailing conditions and some of the most competitive racing seen in the 505 fleet for some time, with the lead changing constantly throughout each race. Especially encouraging was the number of new young faces seen for the first time in the 505 class.
Three provinces were represented, i.e. Western Cape, Natal, and Northvaal, and our thanks goes out to those who travelled up from the Cape and Natal to take part.
The official results are unfortunately not yet available as they are subject to a protest hearing which is to take place on Thursday 27th September. We will keep you informed as to the outcome.
Luckily this only influences the first two places so for the rest of us the provisional results are under the Results link.
505 Nationals Prep Training
Eight boats arrived at Aeolians early this morning for measurement and training in preparation for the 505 Nationals next long weekend.
505 KZN Provincials - Richards Bay
The 505 class were kindly hosted by Zululand Yacht Club for their KZN provincials together with the catamarans on the long weekend 9-12 Aug 2007. Unfortunately only 4 boats arrived, all from Gauteng, so the regatta could not count as a provincial, but the weather and sailing conditions at ZYC made up for that. Next year we would like to see more Natal and maybe even some Cape boats there.
The ZYC really made us feel at home and we were treated to a great camping venue, a well organised event and some fantastic sailing conditions which we would rate as some of the best in the country. Where else can you sail 12-25 knots of breeze with a 2-3m swell and a 25degC water temperature in August, in shorts and a splash vest. Where else in the world are you welcomed back on the beach after the last days racing by the Commodore, dishing out glasses of OBS?
This is a fantastic place to sail!
