Biagio family - New foredeck/skipper arrives!

Mark Biagio proudly announced the birth of their son Ethan, 3 weeks early on the 27th September 2009. (While we were all at the Nationals in Mossel Bay)
Ethan was very early, and weighed in at 2.56kg, so according to Mark, although he first announced him as a foredeck, he is reconsidering him as a potential skipper. I am sure he, who started early, will grow tall and strong and eventually become a mean crew. Crews always start earlier than skippers! :-)

Illona and Ethan are at home and doing well.

2009 505 Nationals - 3rd Day "Windy and Wet" - Results out!

The cold front passed over Mossel Bay during the evening and Sunday dawned wet and with more wind than the previous two days.
Was this what the Cape guys had been hoping for?
We got onto the water dressed for the cold, with the conditions clearly favouring the bigger crews.

The second day at Mossel Bay brought light, overcast and shifty conditions and strengthened the Funke brothers position as regatta leaders

Boat Building Task Team Feedback

The boat building task team recently spent a great deal of effort investigating the feasibility of manufacturing boats locally from moulds which were aquired a number of years ago. Their brief was to locate and collect the most recent mould which was in the KZN area, inspect the mould for compliance with the class rules and then determine if it was feasible for a local builder to manufacture boats locally from this mould.
They also spent time negotiating agreements with local suppliers to assess the costs of locally manufactured and assembled boats.
