 :: 2009 505 Nationals - 3rd Day "Windy and Wet" - Results out! :: (360 Reads)

The cold front passed over Mossel Bay during the evening and Sunday dawned wet and with more wind than the previous two days.
Was this what the Cape guys had been hoping for?
We got onto the water dressed for the cold, with the conditions clearly favouring the bigger crews.
Racing got under way with the wind coming in from a WNW direction and freshening. The cloud cover was thick and at times low with the occasional rain shower. At one stage during the second race a Southern Right Whale and her calf surfaced just downwind of the windward mark and lay there watching the racing, which was quite close right through the fleet. The wind squalls caused a few untimely capsizes throughout the fleet and resulted in some reshuffling of the results, as well a couple of DNC's for the last race.
In the end Thomas and Peter were too strong for the rest of the fleet and comfortably ran away with bullets in the last three races. The final results are up in the "Results" section and photos of the event will be up soon.
