So I was taking my 3km walk to the Yacht club from where I stay and I notice the wind was coming from the EAST!!!!! Usually it comes from the west and builds and builds and builds all day long.
So to cut a long story short we got towed out the start but the wind soon swung to the west again. We started the race in around 8-10 knots of breeze. The start was absolutely sucking hind tit! I did not have enough boat speed getting into the start gate and the guys rolled us. We fought back hard and rounded in around 40th. On the next beat we unfortunately capsized on a tack, as Evert unhooked himself and the trapeze hooked itself back on. We then struggled again to get back some positions so we did not have such a good finish.
The second race we had a fantastic start! we held Howie who started just below us and we sucked a few guys in above us, as we could beat slightly higher than the others. This is the wind that I can steer in!!
We rounded in the 20's. We lost a few positions thereafter due to a few mistakes we made. It was a very hard race to sail in because the wind was up and down throughout the race. We had to shift gears all the time! This was very hard to get right but eventually we mastered it. All boat and speed work on the boat is going better and better.
