Team SA had a good first beat with a clean first row start. We were somewhat sluggish off the start, being under powered slightly in around 12 knots of breeze.
The wind increased to about 22 knots by the end of the race and increased further therafter. We missed the second race to save the boat for the worlds.
Day one saw three mast breaks!
Team SA had a good first beat with a clean first row start. We were somewhat sluggish off the start, being under powered slightly in around 12 knots of breeze.
We recovered from that and got the boat going fast again. We worked ourselves up the left hand side of the course, which paid off. We rounded in the top half of the fleet, but unfortunately did a Chinese Gybe on the hoist. I am crewing at the moment and find the new pole system incredibly fast! It is so fast that by the time one goes through the gybe the crew is waiting for the skipper to finish his tasks and not vice versa as we experience at present in SA!
The wind increased to about 22 knots by the end of the race and increased further therafter. We missed the second race to save the boat for the worlds.
