This year's BP Trophy was sailed at Aeolians Club. 10 505's attended the event and it was a pity that the tight racing did not materialise into a result. The weather forecast was always gloomy with a maximum of 5 knots being forecast for the entire weekend. Racing got underway in switchy conditions and the race officer, Brian Sutherland, had his hands full trying to lay a proper course. Two races were sailed on Saturday.

Sunday dawned with no wind. At 9 a slight breeze was starting to fill in but it was always going to be dicy. The race committee managed to start a total of 3 races but due to an absolute lack of wind only 1 race could successfully be completed.

With 1 race needed and the prospects of breeze dying away completely all further racing was abandoned. The 505 class would like to thank all participants, organisers, committees, caterers and especially Brian Sutherland, for putting on a great event. The entrance fee for the regatta will not be refunded but used to subsidise future events and help build the class.

The next event is the 505 season end dinner on Saturday the 20th of June at Pretoria Sailing Club. Keep an eye out for the invitation and booking details.
