SASWC youth training clinic at Langebaan on 21 and 22 March.
Get on pace for the Western Cape Dinghy Champs! All 505 sailors are invited to join the Youth Sailors at this special training clinic designed to prepare Optimist sailors for their Selections Regatta, Lasers, 420s and Hobie 16s for their Youth Worlds selection regattas, 420 sailors for their Nationals and all dinghy sailors for the Western Cape Dinghy Champs.
The Gauteng 505's started their WC Champs preparation in earnest last weekend with a session capably run by Peter and Thomas Funke at PSC. The Gauteng training series is held every second Saturday at PSC and peaks with a training camp at Sterkfontein Dam late in March where we hope to be joined by the Natal fleet for some strong wind, open water sailing.
The Western Cape 505 sailors will need all the help they can get as they will be defending the title, snached last year by Dave Hudson and Dale Rae, against a formidable onslaught by the Gauteng 5's. There is talk of 5 Western Cape boats tuned to go FAST, taking part in the WC Champs this year with a sizeable fleet expected from Gauteng and the distinct possibility of some Natal boats travelling down.
