Have a look, and plan your season!
You can find the calender under the Events link.
The intention of the ranking system is to rank individuals on the basis of their participation and results over the 2008-2009 season. This ranking will be used as a qualification system to determine who is eligible to attend the Worlds in 2009, in San Francisco. In addition the ranking system may be used to select those eligible for financial assistance/shipping sponsorship when competing in the Worlds '09.
The ranking system is structured on the basis of a selected number of events throughout the country, decided upon by the Exco. Each event receives a weighting, corresponding to its importance in the local and international calender.
The calculation formula for your ranking points (RA) from a ranking regatta is
RA = f x 100 x ((s + 1 - x)/s)
Where:
f - is the weighting of the regatta.
s - is the number of boats that finished at least one race in a regatta.
x - is your overall placing in the regatta.
Your ranking points for the year R is the average of your best 9 regatta points which result when you multiply your regatta ranking RA by m, the number of ranking races in the regatta.
R - Your ranking for the year
m - number of ranking races in a regatta.
The ranking system will be maintained by the Exco and published from time to time on the website. If you are interested we will supply an Excel spreadsheet with the formulas so you can check your own ranking points.
The ranking events are selected and weighted by the Exco and published together with the calender, in order to grow the participation and level of competition within the local and national fleet.
