Good news!!! The Commodore of PSC has let me know that the 505 Highveld Champs is ON this weekend, 27th-28th August. The strike should be over by Thursday night.
We have 10 boats confirmed for this weekends regatta, with a number of new members attending for the first time. Not bad for the first regatta of the new season!
Registration starts at 09h00 sharp with the first race scheduled not before 10h30. Entry for the 505 is R150 per boat. There will be entry forms and membership forms at the entry desk, we ask that all sailors update their membership details and renew their subscriptions so we can involve you in the new season. All sailors are to be class members. Those who took part in Nationals should already be up to date with their membership.
Weather forecast according to Robert is going to be light winds and quite hot on Saturday with a nice 10 knots on Sunday. The water is probably freezing, but then that is extra motivation NOT to go for a swim!
The 505's are catering for Saturday lunch, Lasagne, salad and roll mmmm.... There's a braai on Saturday evening, and the Finns are doing Sunday lunch.
But there's more....!
All existing members are encouraged to rig their boats early and then help a new member to get rigged in time for the racing.
New members are encouraged to come and look at the other boats and ask plenty of questions. Everyone is there to show off their boats, and help you get up to speed. There are plenty of go-fast tricks, you just have to ask!
Rumour has it that Kyle and Robert have installed a secret weapon into their boat. (RSA8445) They have tried to cover up their tracks but the evidence is sure to still be visible. Just look for new fibreglass!!!
We can't wait to see Jared in his new boat, but until he has finished it, he will be borrowing Craigs boat BSB, which by the way is still in the market. (See the classifieds)
Mark is also trying to hide some "Go-Fast" mods under a patchy paint job. What has he been doing under there??? He has enticed Rudolph to skipper for him for this regatta and that is going to be a potent combination!
There are still two boats available if you are a competent skipper/crew combination and still want to take part. Just contact Warwick (082 882 6414) or any other Exco member for info.
