Remember 505 Nationals from the 20th to the 22nd March 2010, at Sterkfontein Dam. The Entry form is attached for the last time. ENTER NOW! It’s easier by Email and EFT. Unfortunately we cannot change the entry form once sanctioned by SAS so we are telling you that the fax no is 012 661 0751, it’s working again. All early entrants will be receiving an embroidered towel .... VERY NICE!

It looks like we have at least 15 entries so far, if you know of someone with a boat who is not sailing, now is the time to exert pressure.

Sponsorship:

The 505 class Nationals sponsorship list is growing. RiskCafé, BP Newmarket, Hyde sails, Canon, SOS Tool and Die, Caterpiller & Catfish, and Distell! The lucky draw for these special prizes will take place after the AGM on Sunday night at Caterpillar and Catfish, everyone who attends the AGM has an equal chance of winning. If you are not there in person you are not eligible for the lucky draw. The 505 Class association is sponsoring half of the costs for Saturday evening dinner at Caterpillar and Catfish, so dinner will only cost you R 50 each. Non class members are also welcome at R 100 per person, but please let us know on your entry form.

Accommodation:

Chalets may still be available, phone Sterkfontein (058 622 3520) directly for any cancellations. There are plenty of powered and unpowered camping sites still available, pay at the gate. The Cape guys are chickening out so there are 3 beds available again in the 8 bed chalet together with the bridge and rescue crews. Call Thomas 082 319 1809 to book, first come first served.

Measurement:

Pre measurement and boat weighing for all boats is now at Sterkies on Saturday morning, before you rig. Measurement is compulsory for all boats and sails being used in the nationals. There is enough time to measure and weigh the rest of the Gauteng, KZN and Cape boats at Sterkfontein. Measurement will be limited to selected items at the discretion of the class measurers, but all boats must be weighed and shall comply with the class rules.

Who else is sailing?

There are some big names taking part in these 505 nationals. If you have a competitive boat and are looking for a very competent skipper or you are looking to crew for someone just contact an Exco member for assistance, there are still one or two boats available. Remember the PE event and the WC Champs are coming up in April.

Rescue driver is back.

Thanks to Dave Kitchen for coming back early from AUS specially to drive the rescue boat in the 505 Nationals! Thanks Dave.

Do you have any comments/suggestions? Where and when would you like to sail? Please forward any correspondence to members of the Exco or to rsa505@rsa505.org.za
